🧼 Care Instructions

Hand wash the feeder and nectar components regularly with warm water and mild dish soap. Rinse thoroughly before refilling.

Do not place PETG components in a dishwasher.

Keep nectar fresh and replace it frequently, especially during hot weather. Positioning the feeder in a shaded or partially shaded location can help keep nectar cooler and fresher.

Do not add oils, pesticides, or other chemicals to the ant moat. Plain water is all that is needed.

☀️ Outdoor Use

PETG provides improved heat, moisture, and weather resistance compared with standard PLA, making this feeder suitable for normal outdoor use.

As with any plastic outdoor product, prolonged exposure to extreme heat and direct sunlight can eventually affect its appearance and lifespan. A shaded or partially shaded location is recommended whenever possible.

🐦 Important Note

This is a 3D-printed, handmade product. Minor layer lines, texture variations, or small cosmetic differences are normal characteristics of the 3D-printing process and make each feeder slightly unique.

Colors may also vary slightly depending on filament availability and your screen settings.

🌺 Hummingbird Feeder Care & Safety

Keeping your feeder clean and the nectar fresh helps keep visiting hummingbirds healthy.

  • Nectar Recipe: Mix 1 part plain white granulated sugar with 4 parts water. Do not use honey, brown sugar, artificial sweeteners, or food coloring.
  • Change Nectar Regularly: In cooler weather, replace nectar every 2–3 days. During hot weather, check it daily and replace it more frequently—especially if it becomes cloudy.
  • Clean Before Refilling: Empty and thoroughly rinse the feeder each time you replace the nectar. Regular cleaning helps prevent mold, bacteria, and fermentation.
  • Hand Wash Only: Wash feeder components with warm water and a small amount of mild, unscented dish soap when needed. Rinse extremely well before refilling.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use pesticides, oils, insect repellents, or other chemicals on or inside the feeder.
  • Ant Moats: Fill ant moats with plain water only. Never use oil or pesticides.
  • Choose a Shady Location: Whenever possible, hang the feeder in partial shade and away from intense afternoon sun. This helps keep nectar cooler and slows spoilage.
  • Inspect Regularly: Check the feeder, hanging hardware, chains, hooks, and printed components periodically for damage or excessive wear.
  • Keep Feeding Ports Clean: Check openings for dried nectar, mold, insects, or debris and clean them as necessary.
  • Watch for Spoilage: If nectar becomes cloudy, develops an odor, contains debris, or shows signs of mold, discard it immediately and thoroughly clean the feeder before refilling.

Important: Never add red dye to hummingbird nectar. The colorful feeder itself is enough to help attract hummingbirds.

Simple Nectar Recipe: ¼ cup white sugar + 1 cup water = fresh hummingbird nectar.
